We waited for it for years. Carrie Bradshaw, THE Carrie Bradshaw has set a date and is getting married, making this the most talked about wedding movie of all time. I'm as much a Sex in the City fan as any other 20 something and the first time I saw this movie I cried (like with nearly every other movie, big fat, anime tears). But then I got kind of angry. I mean, women get blamed for everything in this movie: men cheating on them, men not showing up to thier own wedding, etc. But the last time I checked men were big boys capable of making their own decisions. But watching it again, it's clear to me that the movie is about forgiveness... as we were told by the song in the trailer (duh!). Plus it's got not one but (spoiler alert!) TWO weddings. That is a WIN in my book.
The Bride: Oh, I could get Carried away with this one (seriously, I crack myself up!) Our favorite single lady Ms. Carrie Bradshaw, sex columnist extraordinaire, is finally getting married. You know it will be all about the fashion and in true Carrie style, all about the drama.
The Groom: Let's face it, he's kind of a big deal. John Preston, AKA Mr. Big, the man we love to hate and then love again (incidentally just like Carrie), is going in for his 3rd marriage. While some of us may have preferred Aiden (me!) or Burger or Aleksandr Petrovsky, like we all predicted, Big is indeed the biggest love of Carrie's life.
The Bridal Party: Yes, they're all here. Miranda, Charlotte, and sexy Samantha are all in attendance as bridesmaids. All the other favorites are there too Smith, Steve, Harry (my fav!), Stanford, and Anthony. Little Lily is a superb flower girl and Brady is turning heads as the ring bearer.
The Dress: The Dress? More like Dresses! It's like bridal gown porn. All the big names- Vera Wang, Carolina Herrera, Christian la Croix, Dior, Oscar De La Renta (FAV!), and Vivian Westwood outfit our girl for a Vogue photoshoot. She finds"a dress so special, it could bring a wedding tear from even the most unbelieving of women."

Oh Carrie, I don't know about that- I hated it, but I guess it's just not my style. Anyhow Carrie gets her dream, one of a kind dress. (Spoiler Alert!) Oh, did I mention there were two weddings? Ah yes and the second dress is far from the first. A great little vintage suit paired with Carrie's first lover, Manolo Blahniks. My gosh, those shoes are like butter. Delicious.
The Venue: Could there be a better venue? The New York Public Library,"where all the great love stories" are held. Ugg, tre romantic! (Spoiler Alert) Well the courthouse is much more romantic than my local one... but when you're getting married all that matters is love and the one you're marrying. And the shoes.
The Wedding: High style, high society. If Carrie was in Vogue even before the wedding you know it's going to be over the top. But it wasn't always so- the wedding evolved from 75 guests to more than 200 (ugg! Don't we all have that problem? My guest list gets bigger by the day!). But in the end (and I mean the very end) it's just the bride and groom that matter.
Wedding Wisdom: Well I already said this movie was about forgiveness. So of course everyone makes mistakes and you have to move forward. And yes, that means forgiving your bridesmaid who told your man he was crazy to get married. But there are several other things to learn.
1. At some point in our lives even grown women need to be spoon fed by their friends (or family). I say this because I know all of us brides will hit a point sometime when the joy (haha) of planing a wedding will stress us out so much we'll pull a Carrie and not get out of bed. That's why it's so great to have your gals (or your mom or your man) there!
2. I guess the most important piece of wedding wisdom we get from the lovely Ms. Carrie Bradshaw- Preston, is not to let the wedding get bigger than Big... or um.. your fiance. We've all been there done that. And while that isn't an excuse to have our men not show up to the wedding (we're allowed to change our minds and envision huge weddings!) it is a good reminder that it's about the marriage and not the wedding.
The Happily Ever After: The Sequel comes out in May 2010- hooray! Then we'll really know what the happily ever after is. But in Carrie's case, it's everything. She has her man and her friends to boot. Instead of riding off into the sunset with her man, she rides into a nightclub with her friends and sips cosmos. What a refreshing ending for all us independent ladies :)
